Let’s be honest, moving is stressful. There are a million and one to-do’s to get through and it is seemingly impossible to keep track of it all. That’s why we’ve created this checklist—to keep you on track and remind you of all the things you need to do before you move.
We want to simplify the process of moving. We believe that with the perfect plan in place, your next move can be completely stress-free.
This checklist will walk you through what you need to do the week and day of your move. Relocating your life is hard, but it is also an extremely exciting time. With a bit of pre-planning, your upcoming move will run smoothly, letting you enjoy the excitement that comes with this new season of your life!
❒ Pack an essential box—and label it clearly. This box will have everything you need for the first 24 hours in your new home including toiletries, clothing, bedding, etc.
❒ If you did not hire cleaners, make sure you clean your current home for the next people moving in. And to ensure you have a clean slate when you move in, it’s best to also spend some time cleaning your new home before you move in.
❒ The night before your move, unplug your fridge and freezer to defrost—don’t forget to put an old towel in front to soak up any water that may leak out.
❒ Drain the water hoses to your washing machine and empty gas from any grills, heaters, lawn mowers, leaf and snow blowers, etc.
❒ Double check every nook and cranny to make sure you have everything before you leave.
❒ Photograph your now-empty home to prove it is in good condition when you moved.
On the day of your move, start the day off right. Grab a coffee and some takeout breakfast nice and early and hit the ground running. The sooner you’re into your new house the sooner it will feel like home!
❒ Set your alarm bright and early and get a head start on the day!

Moving Week
It’s here! The week leading up to the big day. Now’s the time to put your head down and focus on organizing, packing, and tying up any loose ends. If you can complete everything on this list even 1 day before your move, you’re in for a stress-free day.❒ Pack an essential box—and label it clearly. Moving Day
The day has finally arrived! The day you’ve been planning and preparing for is here. You’ve checked off your to-dos and you’re ready for a stress-free move.On the day of your move, start the day off right. Grab a coffee and some takeout breakfast nice and early and hit the ground running. The sooner you’re into your new house the sooner it will feel like home!
❒ Set your alarm bright and early and get a head start on the day!
❒ Protect your floors and carpet—cover high traffic areas with old blankets, towels or plywood boards (for carpet). And be sure to lift all furniture and appliances—never drag.
❒ Have some cash on hand for emergencies and for tipping your movers at the end of the move.
❒ As soon as your movers leave, grab the essentials box you packed last week. Set up and make your bed, and unpack your shower curtains and toiletries—now you can take a nap or shower whenever you want (because you’re going to want to!)
❒ Get to the grocery store. You’ll feel much more at home with your typical staples lining your pantry shelves.
❒ If you don’t have curtains for your new place, grab a few extra bed sheets to give yourself some privacy and a more comfortable sleep.
❒ Thank your real estate agent. A thank you note goes a long way and they are the reason you found your new home!
